Our mission is to embrace the natural world around us and the community within it. Phylum publishes a quarterly journal which features poetry, fiction, visual art, and creative non-fiction; full-length works of poetry, fiction, or creative non-fiction; and runs a reading series based in St. Catharines, Ontario. Cameron Sauder – Co-Editor in Chief
Cameron (he/him) is a cosmic anomaly and one of the Co-Editors in Chief of Phylum Press. Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, he’s a recent Brock University graduate and will be attending the University of Calgary for his MA in the fall. He’s had short fiction and poetry published in The Mythic Circle, The Dread Literary Review, Flash Phantoms, Balestra Magazine, and Blood Moon Rising magazine.
Gabriel Graham Piessens – Co-Editor in Chief
Gabriel Graham Piessens (he/him) is one of the editors-in-chief of Phylum Press. His work has been featured in various literary magazines and anthologies, including Paloma, the Amazine, and Active Muse. He lives in St. Catharines, Ontario, and attends Brock University for Concurrent Education.
Talia D’Intino – Marketing Coordinator
Talia D’Intino is a screenwriter and marketer from Ontario, Canada. She recently graduated from Sheridan College with a bachelor’s in creative writing and publishing. She has done marketing work for The Woods Cannabis in Mississauga, Ontario, and her written work has been featured in Heroica Magazine.
Anjalee Nadarajan – Workshop Host
Anjalee Nadarajan is a poet and fiction writer eager to share her literary knowledge. She has extensive, personal experience with writer’s block and knows that there is always a path through it. She is currently finishing her doctorate in English literature at York University. Anjalee also loves listening to music and performing on her two main instruments: the veena and the piano.
Dustin Brown – Editor
Dustin P Brown is a Michigan-born, Spain-based author of poetry and prose. He received his BA in Creative Writing from Western Michigan University and currently works as an editor and interpreter. He’s published poetry at dozens of journals including Borderless Journal, Bacopa Literary and Lit Shark as well as flash fiction at Falling Star Magazine.
Guy Elston – Editor
Guy Elston is a UK-born, Toronto-based poet. His debut full-length collection is The Character Actor Convention (The Porcupine’s Quill, 2025) and his poems have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Literary Review of Canada, The Ex-Puritan, Grain, Geist and elsewhere. He’s a member of the Meet the Presses Collective.
Madeleine Essery – Editor
Madeleine (she/her) is an editor for Phylum Press. She is the Vice President of Publications for the University of Guelph’s branch of the Canadian Association for Research in Regenerative Magazine. Entering her fourth year, studying Creative Writing and Neuroscience, she hopes to eventually pursue a master’s degree in Journalism and Communications.
Christa Fairbrother – Editor
Christa Fairbrother, MA, is a disabled poet currently serving as Gulfport, Florida’s poet laureate. She’s had poetry in Crannog, Epiphany, Pleiades, and Salamander, among others, and she’s been a finalist for the Leslie McGrath Poetry Prize, the Wilder Prize, and was a Pushcart Prize nominee. Madeline O’Neill – Editor
Madeline O’Neill is a recent graduate of Georgia Southern with a concentrated degree in Creative Writing. On campus, she was inspired by the conversations of students, using the blurbs as inspiration for her writing. She then lets the glowing orbs of imagination dance around her head while she writes feverishly and whole-heartedly. You can often find her at a coffee house or going thrifting!
Gabby Tomlinson – Editor
Gabby Tomlinson is an editor, writer, and filmmaker based in Toronto, Ontario. A graduate of York University, she is passionate about all forms of narrative art, and has worked for years to help writers bring their stories into the world. She has had her work featured on CBC Gem, and has most recently edited the fantasy series The Ash Saga.
Hannah Voteur – Editor
Hannah Voteur is a professional editor and writer currently living in NYC, but is originally from the beautiful state of New Hampshire. She received her MA in Linguistics from Boston University in 2022, and her MA in English Literature from the University of Sheffield in 2023. She adores all things weird and gothic, especially with an undercurrent of the romantic. She lives with her partner, her fifteen house plants and the hope of someday soon adopting a cat.
